Volunteer Make a difference!

Volunteers are vital to the program and without them we don’t ride! No previous experience with horses or disabilities is necessary – you will be taught everything you need to know.

We need volunteers to walk beside riders with disabilities, groom, tack, or lead horses. We also need volunteers to help keep our barn clean, feed the horses, and help at our annual events such as the CALNET Horse Show and fundraisers. Our used tack and clothes outlet in Newbury Park also needs volunteer staffing. Wherever your talents lie, there’s a place for you to help at Ride On!

We would LOVE to have your help as a volunteer! To get started, come out to our ranch on a day and time that we're here (based on the schedule below), and see our Office Manager Nancy, or the Head Instructor on site, to fill out our application and observe a lesson or two. Once that's done, you can start volunteering right away if you'd like!

We do host a Volunteer Training once per session-- the Training is an overview of volunteer tasks, safety and emergency procedures, and trains you to lead and sidewalk in the arena with our riders. You cannot lead or sidewalk until you've been through the Training, but you can still get started beforehand with grooming and tacking horses, barn maintenance, and more! Volunteer Training signups are posted on the tack room door or main whiteboard at our ranches when new dates are set. We look forward to having you!

The minimum age for volunteering in the arena with our riders is 14. Prospective volunteers between the ages of 12 and 14 are welcome and encouraged to volunteer in the barn with our horses.
